Lessons & Policies

We offer private (one-on-one) lessons in piano, singing, guitar, drums, ukulele, and violin.

Lessons are 30 minutes on a weekly basis, at $30 per half hour lesson.

Your very first half hour lesson is free! Limit one per new student.

Once you book a lesson spot, that spot is yours on a weekly basis until you or your teacher needs to reschedule, the semester ends, or until you choose to withdraw from lessons (in accordance with our Withdrawal Policy). Private lessons are 30 minutes long and occur on a weekly basis during the same time/day with the same teacher. Lessons are structured around the goals of each student and what they hope to achieve in their lesson.

Lessons are automatically invoiced monthly, on the 1st of each month, for that entire month. We ask that payment be made by the 10th of each month. The invoice can be paid via e-transfer to thesongspot@gmail.com or in person at the school with a debit or credit card.

Fall 2025-Spring 2026 POLICIES

Cancellation Policy

We allow cancellations without charge where we receive notice (via email or voicemail) before 12pm the day of the lesson. If you cancel before 12pm, you may be offered a make up lesson if we have availability a few days after the cancelled lesson. If the teacher does not have any availability, you have the option of booking with another teacher or the amount paid for that lesson will be credited to the following month. Lessons cancelled with notice that have not yet been paid for will be deducted from your total due that month.

Same day cancellations after 12pm and no-shows are subject to being charged the full or half lesson fee, at our discretion, and a make up lesson will not be offered. If you would like a make up lesson for a lesson cancelled after 12pm the day of, the make up lesson will be charged for, on top of the amount paid/due for the missed lesson.

If you will be missing your lesson for whatever reason, please give us a call or send us an email as early as possible so we can plan accordingly.

Scheduling

Please remember to relay all cancellations, absences, lates, rescheduling requests, etc. to the front desk via email to thesongspot@gmail.com, by phone to 905-425-7664, or in person to our administrator; not just by telling your teacher.

Late Arrival Policy

Should you be 15 minutes (or more) late to your lesson, we reserve the right to consider the lesson a "no-show" and charge for the full price of the lesson. The teacher can decide to teach your lesson for the remainder of your time if they wish, but they are not obligated to extend that lesson time. If you are running more than 5 minutes late, please give us a call or send us an email to let us know.

Withdrawal Policy

If you wish to withdraw from lessons, we require at least 2 weeks notice in advance. If you wish to withdraw immediately, you are still responsible for 2 weeks payment. We ask that all withdrawals be communicated to us via email to thesongspot@gmail.com.

Substitution Policy

If your teacher is absent, we reserve the right to provide a substitute teacher, unless your teacher has made alternate arrangements to make up the lesson.

Late Payment Policy

Payments are to be made no later than the 10th of each month. Any payments subsequent to that date will be charged a late fee of 3%. No more automated reminders will be sent out as they are proving to often be inaccurate.

Refund Policy

There are no refunds for withdrawals, sick days, or lessons missed, or lessons cancelled by the student or by The Song Spot. Refunds might be offered in emergencies, at our discretion, but are subject to an admin fee. Lessons cancelled by The Song Spot due to weather or teacher absence will be credited to the following month, so long as it has already been paid for. Lessons cancelled by The Song Spot that have not already been paid for will simply be removed from the total due for that month.

PLEASE NOTE - We are open from 3pm-9pm on weekdays, 10am-3pm on Saturdays, and are CLOSED on Sundays. Phone calls and voicemails are only answered and checked during our open hours. If you need to reach us about an absence/cancellation/rescheduling, please do so by email, as our inbox is checked regularly.
